a BIG honor for Henry Simmons

Henry Simmons received his first acting award on Sunday...and it was a big one! The former Blue star was honored with the Grand Jury Prize for Best Actor award for his role in the indie film, "South of Pico," during the 11th annual American Black Film Festival. The event took place in Los Angeles. The film revolves around the lives of 4 people who witness a fatal car accident involving an eleven year-old girl and how they react by attacking the driver who hit her.

Raising Cain in Beverly Hills

The Paley Center for New Media held a Behind the Scenes with Cain event last night in Beverly Hills. The cast of Cain was there for a behind the scenes look at the CBS series as well as a Q&A session with those in attendance. Featured here are the show's star and co-executive producer Jimmy Smits along with co-stars Nestor Carbonell and Paola Turbay.

Last night in Los Angeles...

The west coast premiere of American Gangster was held last night in Los Angeles. The films stars Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington. Henry Simmons, seen here, was spotted arriving at the premiere.

Esai has a new "do"

Esai Morales showed up yesterday at the ceremony on Hollywood Blvd where the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) received it's star on the Walk of Fame. Looks like he's working a new buzz cut and it suits him well! He's seen here catching up with actor/director Alan Rosenberg. Rosenberg directed a Blue episode during the final season.

Congratulations Garcelle and Mike

Garcelle and her husband, Michael Nilon, welcomed twin boys, Jax Joseph and Jaid Thomas, on Thursday, Oct. 18, in Los Angeles. The twins arrived five weeks early, Jax entered the world first at 8:30 p.m. weighing four pounds, seven ounces with his brother following a minute later tipping the scales at four pounds, nine ounces. Jax and Jaid join Oliver, the 40-year-old actress' 15 year old son from her previous marriage.

a Hollywood Nip/Tuck

Cast past and present turned out last night for the private screening of the Nip/Tuck season premiere at Hollywood's Paramount Theatre. Former Blue and Nip/Tuck cast member Jessalyn Gilsig joined in the fun. Nip/Tuck's season premiere is Tuesday, October 30th on the F/X Network.

Dennnis sighting in New York

Seems our beloved Dennis Franz was in New York this past week. He was spotted leaving celebrity favorite Nello restaurant on the Upper East Side this past Wednesday. Let's keep our fingers crossed he was in town for some future work related project that will bring him back on a screen, big or small, sometime soon!

Sorry for the late notice - Check out Gordon Clapp tonight on the CBS hit Criminal Minds, airing at 10 PM Eastern. Gordon will portray a detective, shouldn't be too much of a stretch! Also of note, this is Mandy Patinkin's last episode of Criminal Minds. Joining the cast soon will be Dennis Franz's good buddy, Joe Mantegna.

Esai and Jimmy party in DC

Esai Morales and Jimmy Smits were special guests at the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts dinner and gala last night in Washington, D.C. The event was held at the residence of the Spanish Ambassador. During the event, the hosts surprised Esai with a birthday cake. Yesterday was his 45th birthday.

Bonnie Somerville in new romantic comedy/drama feature

Bonnie Somerville is everywhere these days! She completed filming over the summer of a new feature. The feature is called Shades of Ray and stars actor Zachary Levi as Somerville's love interest. The story revolves around the long lost Pakistani father of Levi's character who returns to his son's life. Levi is the star of the new NBC series Chuck. No word on when the film will hit theaters.

Bonnie Somerville finds a partner on Cashmere Mafia

Lourdes Benedicto, Blue's Gina Martinez (aka Mrs. James Martinez), has joined the cast of ABC's Cashmere Mafia. Benedicto will portray Alicia, the love interest of Caitlin, played by Blue's former Bonnie Somerville. Cashmere Mafia debuts on December 4th.
