And Henry Simmons ran into Penny Marshall (aka Laverne from Laverne and now a mega-respected film director) yesterday at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Later on Saturday, Henry went to the Pre-Oscar party hosted by Vibe Magazine.

Garcelle attended the Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica this afternoon (as in today). Here are a couple images of her arriving at the event and looking oh so California! In fact, she's probably at a post awards party as you read this!

The Independent Spirit Awards are held yearly in Santa Monica on the eve of the Oscars. Awards are given out in similar catagories but for films that are independently produced - as in not by the major studios like Fox, Warner Bros., Universal, etc. They are generally a much more fun filled and casual event than the Oscars.

Henry hit the party scene again with a visit to the Giant Magazine party for it's newest cover girl, Jennifer Hudson. Looks like Henry needs to do laundry - he's wearing the same outfit as the previous night.

Esai won't be hiding behind the camera when he reunites with former Blue costar Garcelle for a Fox drama pilot called The Cure. The show revolves around a group of people who cut through the red tape of medical bureaucracy to get care to those who need it most. Actor Anson Mount also co-stars.

Celebremos! It looks like Jimmy Smits is coming back to TV!

Jimmy Smits has signed on to star, in the yet to be named, CBS drama series about a powerful Latino family in the rum business. The show is set in south Florida. Jimmy, and his production company El Sendero, will also executive produce. The production company also has several other productions in the works in which Jimmy will produce.

those Blue girls on Heroes - Jesslyn Gilsig and Lisa Lackey

One of the breakaway hits on television this season has been Heroes. It's a great show and if you're not watching it you should definitely check it out. It hasn't been mentioned much but 2 of the cast members are former Blue actresses - Jesslyn Gilsig and Lisa Lackey. Lisa (with a different look than when she was on Blue, casual attire and long hair) plays the wife of one of the "gifted" characters - the cop - while Jesslyn has the new and much coveted role of the cheerleaders (remember, Save the Cheerleader, Save the World) mom, who is also "gifted." Keep up the good work ladies!

Mark-Paul scores a new legal gig

Mark-Paul moves from the police station to the public defenders office in a new CBS drama. The yet to be titled series is set in Los Angeles and also features Janeanne Garofalo (love her!) and Stephen Dorff.

Damn I've missed Charlotte!

I hope everyone here watched Charlotte Ross on Law & Order last night. She rocked the show. We need to be able to see her on a more regular basis than this every few years! This was the perfect role for her to show off her acting chops - and more.
